Discover something different from local makers and artists

Emma Victoria Taylor

Throughout my exploration of the kaleidoscope I devised a system to construct my kaleidoscopic sculptures, naming it Kaleido. This system allows me to make a variety of sculpture without compromising my basic principles or the effects of light onto the sculptures. Using this system mirrors are always situated on the inside of the sculpture, either angled or facing towards each other and they must have open ends or varying apertures that allow light to pass through.
The materials I use to make my Kaleido sculpture is mirror, varying depending upon the technical construction of the sculptures, I hand make the Kaleido sculptures using my working knowledge of the mundane factory process that is both physically and psychologically mind numbing, challenging my own patience with a repeated process of cutting, scoring and forming, to create aesthetically pleasing non functional mirrored sculpture’s that when activated by light produces reflective work.
