Beginning with a large prepared canvas I firstly have to try to completely empty my head. I will then make my first mark, followed by another mark to balance the composition, followed by another and then another and so on. It is necessary to work from a reduced pallet else chaos might be the result. The colour and texture inspiration might come from a rusty old sheet of metal, a peeling barn door or pictures torn from newspapers.
Acrylic is the main medium. I use a large brush, and anything else that is within reach, for instance cloths, hands, tissues, print shapes and my own cut tiles.
