Loughborough ArtSpace

Loughborough Artspace

Loughborough ArtSpace is a Loughborough artists’ group set up in 1997 by local graduates as a means to exhibit, put on workshops and to network. It currently has 21 members. ArtSpace exhibits locally, nationally, and in 2005 in Venice at the same time as the Biennale. We have received funding from the Arts Council, the Lottery, Leicestershire County Council and Charnwood Borough Council. We have studios individually or in small groups and meet together once a month to plan exhibitions and to discuss work. Several members give children’s art workshops, others teach adults including at Nottingham University.

2011 will include 2 exhibitions in Nottingham and an Art Fair and open studios. The highlight of the year will be a large exhibition ‘Birdsong’ in April-June. For this, we have been given both galleries of Charnwood Museum in Loughborough. The exhibition is in collaboration with a local composer who has produced a piece of contemporary melodic music based on birdsong and the seasons. Each artist is responding to the music to create new and innovative painting, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, photography and digital work.

Please view our online gallery to see ArtSpace recent successes or to contact artists. Prices vary. Commissions accepted.
